If you are a christian, is crossdressing considered a sin? There is a scripture that is referenced in the Bible pertaining to it.
Deuteronomy 22:5
The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.
First theory is that the translation is too literal. The real meaning would be more akin to a woman shall not wear a warrior's weapons and a warrior shall not wear a woman's garment. Meaning women shouldn't go into battle and men shouldn't get out of their duty to protect.
Second theory is that it is no longer to be practiced. It may have been a ceremonial law from Moses' time (who did write this scripture) that has since been obsolete.
I wouldn't put too much significance into the scripture because there are very few other passages in the Bible that even mention crossdressing. How can you make something a law the weighs too heavily on societal standards? By our standards today, we would consider that Jesus wore a dress. Wouldn't women who wear pants be considered going against this scripture? There is also the blurred line of wearing a kilt. It is society making these standards, not God.
Any crossdresser that reads this scripture should not feel guilty.

Back in the day, Kotex pads hadn't been invented, and so when they had their periods women would discharge in their clothing. Women were deemed 'unclean' while menstruating, so if a man would wear her soiled clothing he too would be 'unclean'.
Secondly, exactly who decides what is woman's clothing and what is men's clothing? This varies among different cultures and different times. Ah yes, the shifting sands of time. Who can follow it? Who can predict it?
Finally a direct quote from my bio:

When wearing a skirt, I’m not trying to act like or be treated like a female, I’m only doing it for the comfort factor."

I asked a few knowledgeable Jewish friends about Deuteronomy (though I have not yet asked a Rabbi), and they said that there are laws that are meant to apply to all of humanity and other laws that only apply to the Jews, and that Deut. 22:5 was only applicable to Jews. Though Christianity used Judeaism as its foundation, Jews (and most Christians) do not consider Christians to be Jews.

Being an Atheist since the age of 6, when a Sunday School Teacher beat me until I cried, all because I questioned her "gods love!" as she put it, this happening after my Grandmother died on Christmas Day, I find the idea of Sin quite laughable. So No lol.
