I think a common misconception is that men who wear panties are fetishists. There are some men that may wear panties for fetishistic reasons. Many others wear them simply because they find them comfortable or enjoyable to wear. There is nothing inherently sexual or fetishistic about wearing panties.

Another one is that those men are gay. I think there have been studies showing that most men who wear panties are hetero and married.

Another question from the SO is, Do you want to be a woman? That may be the eventual end game for some but most will say no, not at all.

 I agree with Crissey, in that I don't want to become a woman, but I do totally enjoy occasionally being treated like one. 

Such is the case when we go out on a date and my wife drives, holds doors open for me and other stuff like that while I'm all made up by wearing panties, bra and garter stockings (nylons) under one of my beautiful evening dresses with matching stilettos.

She calls that "getting you (me) all girled up", whereas I call it "Heaven on Earth".
